I'm currently in the phase of non-blogging because I'm too lazy. Have you guys heard about the manhunt for JI leader Kastari the last couple of days? He escaped from our detention centre and there's currently a an island wide manhunt for him. When Nat told me that police were surrounding her school because of the manhunt, all that came to my mind was...

MANhunt in Singapore? Why would they need police at her school??

Then I recalled the cover of Strait Times which depicted the blown up picture of the man we are really hunting, not much of a good looker anyways. =)

I didn't even know we ever had the leader of JI locked up.

One week

I discovered I can draw!

The one thing I can't stand about working in the service industry is when you spend 4 hours stoning, with practically no customers to attend to till your feet fall asleep. So you prepare yourself mentally to go home at 11, and once you do, boom, all the darn customers come in at 10pm for drinks. Dang you tell yourself, but it's too late, you're gonna be stuck there for another 3 more hours even though your brain function has ceased. So I spent my first few hours doodling what represents my work/life at one rochester. See that table/ cupboard in the middle? That's how my station looks like. And the window next to it overlooks the 'livingroom' where couples, often forgeting that I can see them start making out like there's no tomorrow. Did I mention I witnessed a marriage proposal through that window once? Real sweet. =)

Something just occured to me this week, if I'm not teaching little kids, I'm teaching disabled ones, resulting in me talking to many people as if they were kids too, e.g. customers. It's not that I baby talk or anything, it's more of the tone of the voice used, it's slightly higher and a little more... exaggerated with regards to expression. Hopefully I don't sound too much like a kindergarten teacher when I take orders!

Now that Annie's gone back, my social life has begun to cease to exist, especially with the start of this week. This is because my working hours start in the morning, stops for 3-5 hours depending on which day, and starts again in the evening. Annie used to drop by and hang out because she had weird working hours too. The other person I can think of who has these hours would be Chio, but they still clash with my free time and I can't see her! I haven't even had the opportunity to catch that ever-gorgeous Johnny Depp in Sweeny Todd and am so determined not to miss it that I may go and catch the 11am show alone. Who the hell watches an 11am show? Me.

My life as it is...

If I were to count the number of bouquets I've 'dissected' and vase-d, I wouldn't be able to. Not because I've had an army of admirers over the course of my life, but because my sister has had traditional, conventional flower-gift boyfriends. If I weren't a waitress/tuition teacher now, I'd probably be a florist tying lilies and growing chrysenthemums. (My spelling is failing me)

The purple tulips look a little like limp purple cabbage leaves, it's not my fault the picture didn't turn out to be fantastic! Anyways the reason why I chose to speak of flowers was because I'd managed to dissect a customer's bouquet and vase it on valentines day, and still make the bouquet look fantastic. =) Ah, you won't understand unless you saw what pain and effort I went through to put those blardy roses in water, which was actually redundant (but I didn't dare to tell the customers) because bouquets always, Aways come in with a supply of water in a little baggy all wrapped up to last them through the evening. (Unless, as my sister suggested, the boyfriend had been so cheap as to buy the bouquet 2 days earlier and leave it in the fridge)

Moving on...
Sisters I was just lazy to put this on facebook, it'll probably take me a good 30 minutes to get it on. ( I see a potential stubborn future me whom will avoid retraining at all cost)
Which reminds me, the 2 of you better start helping me with the songs!! Doesn't help that all 3 of us are inept in chinese but let's at least get the ideas down ok? You better help me or else I'll be grumpy, overworked and tired and turn into T-rex. :D
Love you guys!

Happy Over-rated love-is-in-the-air Day!

For the dateless guys this evening, why don't you try some cheesy pick-up lines

'Hey, could you have a sip of my coffee? It needs some of your sugar.'

'Did you swallow a magnet too? Cos I'm just so attracted to you'

Or in case you're already attached and have yet to come up with a breath-taking one-liner to put in your valentine's day card,

'You're cosine and I'm sine, because together we're 1.' (cosx + sinx = 1)

Ok I bet you guys have probably heard (and perhaps tried) them already, but the cheesiness is just unbearable! =)

Boyfriends out there, do you know how bimbotic and neurotic you are all causing your girlfriends to be? Over the last few days I've witness not one but 3 of my very close friends enter lala land and become dreamy-eyed/excited bimbos with a mention of their boyfriends. Another one has already suffered permanent damage! (hehe...) I'm not scoffing them or anything, I actually find that extremely cute and adorable and wonder whether the girlfriends have a similar effect on their boyfriends when they aren't around. Imagine a table of beefcakes/suave gentlemen getting all gaga over their girlfriends, hahaha!

Enjoy the day!

Happy Cheena New year!

During the short one week chinese new year break I spent in Malaysia, I got to discover that I'm a pretty tempremental person. Now that I'm back in Singapore, I feel like I'm going through a delayed angsty period which should have come when I was 13 or 14. It doesn't help that Nat too is feeling equally angsty because both of us will just end up complaining to each other and getting more grumpy. It's unlike being depressed and having a friend to share those feelings because either one will probably end up comforting the other and feeding off the gloom of the other so as to result in less wallowing in self-pity. Sowhen 2 depressed people come together, you probably get 2 better feeling people after the encounter. However 2 angsty people coming together = more angst. Haha... (Nat we're angst rearers!)

Anyways, just a heads up, I think this will be a long post because of the daily word quota I never got to finish when I was in Malaysia. =) Don't worry, there'll be pictures.

So just to kick off here's a farmiliar, overpriced chinese new year dish, yu sheng, lou hei or salad and raw fish. We had our reunion lou-hei-ing in my mum's office, haha... Trust our family to treat the office as a second home! As I poured the different things into the mixture, not knowing what the hell to say, I ended up saying things like:

'Hua shen shen she... shen hai zi, shen hai zi' (Peanuts... give birth... give birth)

New year in Malaysia was a little different this year because my uncle's side of the family didn't come down, so we practically had the entire house to ourselves. I think Breadtalk has the cutest breads, remember our little snowman-Ambert? Now they have this cute little alien looking thing with raisins as brains!

Yeah I know, random me, one minnute KL the next minute raisin stuffed heads. Told ya I was tempremental (maybe only the -mental part) haha..

Anyways whilst I was in ole Malaysia (it's an affectionate term), I took the chance to be a sucker/tourist and let Roger bring me up the KL Tower, this 400+ metre high tower which doesnt do much but sit there and earn money from us poor dummies. I think Roger enjoyed himself very much using their super powerful binoculars to peep at people by the pool sides. Haha... The malaysian gah-ment truly has a weird sense of aesthetics, all the dustbins there were shaped like pineapples. Pineapples? Might as well make it chikus.

Well then, here's a hilarious video from the same guy from Roger's blog's video (lousily structured sentence) Aiya, point is, he's hilarious, 10 times better than that silly russel peters guy. Going out to all who havfe played Canon in D in some point of their lives. (Nat!! watch this!!)

Oh yes, I have to complain before I leave, there was this ass hole of an ang mo lasat night who scolded me for slow service when firstly, he wasn't even in my section and secondly, it wasn't my fault all the bloody staff decided to go on their smoking break together as on ea ndleave the floor unattended. Bah, hope he falls down and sprains his upturned nose.

Nerina Pallot's CD! =)

I had a great weekend, because I managed to not only finish my word quota but actually surpass it. For those close to me, they'd know that a Cui without interaction and talking equals an emo Cui. (Or slightly deranged ) I talked and talked and talked, I even talked to the groom's brother/bestman during Sunday's wedding at the restaurant! He wasn't as drop dead gorgeous as the previous bestman/brother, but he was extremely conversational, friendly, and French. =) (I bet the bride was an SPG la)

Yay, talk talk talk, I am sooo going to end up being an auntie, sitting at the cafe (we shall be taitais) spending the entire afternoon with my other fellow aunties like annie, feifei and aiping and just sitting there and talking. Although I reckon ping will be busy pranking people at a ripe old age of 50. HAHA... ok nevermind, private joke. +)

Back to what I was saying...

Allow me to continue on my previous post on the experiences I 've been having this week. (It's not a motherly thing ok, it's a humane thing) But I love the way they look at you, perhaps it's a reflex for me to try and look for a glimmer of hope in any simple action they do, but I don't think so, they seem to give you more attention than any other active kid would. I just love the way one of the kids, Hsin Wei looks observes me when I work with her. We had water therapy (floating around in a pool) with them yesterday, what happens is they bring the kids down to the pool to get them more stimulated and to get them moving. According to the teachers (Who aren't exactly very motivated) she never every moves in the pool but simply stones, laughs and floats. But I managed to get her to kick!! Man, it is rewarding in that sense, according to another volunteer, he said she was responding more than the precious weeks! =) Must share my joy la, I know I sound insane. I'm gonna get some pictures if I can, however I wouldn't want to infringe on their privacy, so I'd probably refrain from posting them.

Anyways, Cheena New Year coming!! Spending almost an entire week with the relatives in good ole' KL, I tihnk I may be bored stiff this round because of all the closed shops and the visiting unknown extended extended distant relatives.

Special Kids~

Under the silent geeky influence of Kevin and Roger, I've decided to post this highly amusing drawing, one of the few I could actually get from this cute website of geeky drawings, it reminds me a lot of the younger son in the comic Foxtrot. Haha, anyways, this still cracks me up pretty good. I'm not sure whether it was because I was tired or because I'm not that bright that I didn't manage to get the other jokes. (Somehow I think it's the latter)

I've spent a couple of days at Margaret Drive Special school this week, the children are really adorably, and highly amusing at times. They can be quite a handful at times because they're pretty mischeivious and can try to test you at times. Tell you guys more another time. -)
